Hymn For The Lord's Day: Satisfied

My oldest son is sometimes priveledged to lead the singing for our little congregation at Cold Springs Chapel. Last Sunday evening he chose this hymn for us to sing. What a blessing the lines of this piece is, as it so accurately describes the emptiness of the heart of those who do not know our Lord. Like the prodigal son, who tried to satisfy his empty stomach with the swine's husks, we can instead enjoy the banquetting table of the Father.

SATISFIED

by Clara T. Williams
All my life long I had panted
for a draught from some clear spring,
that I hoped would quench the burning
of the thirst I felt within.

Hallelujah! I have found him
Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings,
thro' his blood I now am saved.

Feeding on the husks around me,
till my strength was almost gone,
longed my soul for something better,
only still to hunger on.

Hallelujah! I have found him
Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings,
thro' his blood I now am saved.

Poor I was, and sought for riches,
something that would satisfy,
but the dust I gathered round me
only mocked my soul's sad cry.

Hallelujah! I have found him
Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings,
thro his blood I now am saved.

Well of water, ever springing,
bread of life so rich and free,
untold wealth that never faileth,
my redeemer is to me.

Hallelujah! I have found him
Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings,
thro' his blood I now am saved.

I left a comment, but I do not think it went through, so I am going to try again. :) If it did go through please delete this one. Thank you!

Dear Sharon, I found your blog through Homeliving Helper. I am reading through your archives, and I wanted you to know what a blessing you are! I am enjoying your daughter's weblog as well. I love the wonderful hymns you post praising our Lord and Saviour Jesus! The pantry shelving your son is building is so beautiful. His work is excellent. I can hardly wait to see it all finished. We love old houses and old things, too! I look forward to more Study in White posts, as I love to dress old-fashioned and feminine, and I love to sew. I enjoy the pictures of your beautiful family and home. The Lord blessed us with our home in the country a little over a year ago, too! I loved seeing pictures of your store, The Wash Basin, at your local festival. The hoosier cabinet is so pretty with all your lovely things displayed in it. It looks so old-fashioned and cheerful! I think Vintage Inspirations is a wonderful name for your sweet weblog.
The Lord bless you! Paula

Thank you for posting the lyrics to this hymn. This thank you comes from the great-great grand daughter of the lyricist, Clara Tear Williams. God bless you.
